Position Papers due date: April 8th

Welcome to the Global Houston Model United Nations program!

Model United Nations offers a unique opportunity to research pressing world issues, sharpen your public speaking, and connect with like-minded individuals from diverse backgrounds. As you take on the role of a diplomat, you’ll engage in discussions, draft resolutions, and work with others to solve real-world problems, all while representing the interests of your assigned country or organization. MUN is about learning, listening, and working together to find creative solutions to complex global challenges. We encourage you to approach this experience with an open mind and a willingness to learn. From debating in committees, networking with fellow delegates, and learning what it means to be a delegate- we hope you leave with new knowledge, friendships, and a deeper understanding of the world.

Code of Conduct

Behavioral expectation

At GHMUN, it is expected that everyone is to be present, respectful, and professional. We ask that you regard each other with respect, civility, and decorum. As learned, a cornerstone of human rights is dignity; we expect all delegates to treat others the way they would want to be treated. There is a zero-tolerance policy for racism, sexual harassment, bullying, homophobia, sexism, or any other form of discrimination or intimidation. We encourage all delegates to report/communicate with their chairs about any occurrence of an incident.

Academic integrity

GHMUN requires all participants to uphold academic integrity. All delegates are expected to write their own Position Papers and contribute to the Resolutions using their own words, without the use of AI. Delegates are encouraged to reference any research used.

If in doubt or a resource or link, cite it.

Respect for diversity

The goal of GHMUN is to create an inclusive environment where all delegates can learn and participate in fostering alliances. This applies to both in and out of sessions. Here at GHMUN, it is our goal to ensure all delegates feel included, seen, and heard.
